A new college!
Colleges are truly incubators of talent and that is why the Foundation chose as its main project, during its initial phase, to support the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in the renovation of the Santa Croce in Fossabanda compound in Pisa, to be used as a Campus, with a national vocation, for welcoming and nurturing the best talents.
The basic idea was to mobilise the resources of civil society and of the business world to create a “venue,” entirely dedicated to the search for talent and the enhancement of merit.
The compound was purchased by the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies to set up a new college with lodgings that could accommodate some 70 students, classrooms for lectures and educational activities, and fully equipped common areas for studying, group work, and recreational activities, available starting from Academic Year 2024/2025.
The renovation of the Santa Croce in Fossabanda compound has been an ambitious and innovative project with a high social impact, an investment in the future that has returned to the city of Pisa a compound with remarkable artistic and architectural value, which had previously been abandoned.
The Il Talento all’Opera Foundation immediately set out to support the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in the renovation of the compound, identifying it as a strategic project in its mission and a crucial factor for generating a positive social impact.
After two years of hard work, the new college was inaugurated on 13 December 2024.
The Foundation funded the feasibility of the initiative in 2021 and, through the major stakeholder Saint-Gobain Italia SpA, donated materials for the renovation and helped develop innovative solutions. Furthermore, the Foundation Il Talento all’Opera was awarded a grant by the Saint-Gobain Foundation, which contributed to the construction of the glazed windows closure system of the loggia on the first floor of the cloister.
