PhD Programmes
PhD Programmes at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies are intended for brilliant graduates from universities across the world, selected by way of a competitive process, with a strong aptitude for scientific research and interdisciplinary processing. Classes are held in English for the entire programme, which may last three or four years.
Each PhD student follows a tailored programme and develops an original research project, in a qualified and fertile scientific environment, and can choose between cutting-edge laboratories and internationally affirmed research teams. The teaching programme – regardless of the research subject – is characterised by a strong emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach and includes elements of basic research with constant updates based on the latest frontiers of applied research, so as to ensure that each student, at the end of the programme, has a high level of training and skills in experimental research methods and basic methods, as well as excellent planning and communication skills.
