School of Civic Education

The School of Civic Education is a project of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies that stemmed from the idea of some  students. It is a three-day residential course dedicated to 40 students in their final year of high school, selected on the basis of school merit, parental qualification and personal motivation. The first edition was held in 2023.

The programme revolves around the theme “Telling the Changing Reality” and features press reviews in the mornings, lectures, debates and group activities that touch on the several themes that civic education includes, with a special focus on current affairs: the Constitution, climate change, the European Union, and the economy. The aim of the course is to raise awareness among young participants as to their role as citizens and encourage active citizenship actions through the testimony of several external guests, including scholars, journalists and third sector activists.

Thanks to the collaboration between Foundation Il Talento all’Opera and the San Rossore Regional Park Authority, the event is hosted in the prestigious venue of the Villa del Gombo, former residence of the President of the Republic, inside the Park.

Ever since the first edition of the School of Civic Education, the Foundation Il Talento all’Opera has been contributing to the funding of the course, which is free of charge for the participants, so as to promote greater attention to civic education, under all its aspects, and to consolidate one’s personal commitment, as well as that of the School, in terms of social mobility.
